Job description

Junior Controller

As a Junior Controller with Swatch Group, U.S., the position will be responsible for monitoring, facilitating and supporting the Brand Controllers and Brands in their departmental financial needs, including but not limited to, controlling, business and inventory analysis, approval of internal orders and suggest ways of correcting and improving processes. The Junior Controllers are responsible for ensuring compliance with Group policies and accounting standard and coordinating with brands and other Service Center departments to ensure execution of tasks. It is expected that Junior Controller will assume more responsibilities and establish their self as a financial partner for the Brands.

This position is an office based role. 

Profile

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Purchase Order Review and Approval process for the Controlling Development
  • Manage the COOP set-ups and information gathering process for the Brand and Brand Controllers
  • Review, pre-validate, and set up Internal Orders in SAP.
  • Reviewing and validating COOP agreements
  • Ensure correct accounting treatment, validate supporting documentation, and monitor budgeted amounts to comply with HQ policies and budgets.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate reporting packages and monthly analyses for the monthly close.
  • Ensure correct accruals and key figures related to marketing, inventory, and indirect costs to various departments in the monthly close process
  • Analyze and identify potential weaknesses in the department or the Brand’s process
  • Provide administrative support to the Brand Controllers
  • Aid in conducting cost analysis, ratio and trend analysis and other comparative examinations as defined by Controlling Director
  • Act as Finance partner to Brands in various scenarios.
  • Perform monthly margin and P&L analysis to identify irregularities and trends.
  • Support Wholesale/Retail divisions in administrative/financial processes to ensure compliance to Group’s policies.
  • Support and pre-evaluate business plans (short-term & long-term) to provide analytical information to management for decision making.
  • Handle Ad Hoc analysis as needed by Controlling Director & Senior Controllers.
  • Partner with brands to ensure that watch consignment is correct and properly maintained.
  • Participate in various cross division projects to provide the process / control related advice.
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Professional requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a middle size or large size corporate accounting role required
  • Must be proficiency with the financial system SAP
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles
  • Flexible to adjust to changes in responsibilities, procedures, or working conditions
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must possess strong analytical skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong learning ability and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high level functions
  • Strong time management skills and ability to be both effective and efficient in work
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements: 

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Junior Controller to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
