Job description

For our growing surface engineering activities in 2074 Marin-Epagnier in Switzerland, we are looking for a

Physical Chemist


You will be an active and initiative part of a small and motivated team developing innovative surface and interface enhancement processes for new products and applications.

As main tasks you will:

  • Design and develop robust surface cleaning and coating processes mainly on vacuum based equipment.
  • Analyze samples by phenomenological testing. Perform in-depth defect analyses and propose and demonstrate improved processes.
  • Document and promote your solution.
  • Realize prototypes and small series.
  • Upscale and transfer your processes to mass production.
  • Independently define and manage R&D projects internally as well as with external partners to achieve fixed objectives.
  • Perform technology scouting and early state identification of the latest trends in surface treatment and coating technologies.
  • Provide expertise on demand in above-mentioned domains.

Profile

  • University level engineering education in physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry or solid-state physics.

Professional requirements

  • Proficiency in surface and interface chemical and physical phenomena, including adhesion and corrosion.
  • Practical experience in ALD process engineering is an important asset.
  • Habitude of taking initiative and of working independently.
  • Analytical thinking and capacity of oral and written synthesis.
  • Strong motivation to take an active part in a multidisciplinary and international team for continuous improvement and innovation in products as well as technologies.

Languages

  • You should be, or willing to become fluent in oral French as the main social language at work.
  • Good oral and written English is a must for our scientific and engineering environment.
