The Role
We are seeking a Diagnostic Technician who will be responsible for high volume, quick watch repairs (battery changes and link adjustments) and some diagnostics. We require a candidate who has high attention to detail, is calm under pressure and can multi-task. Training provided to candidates with no experience in basic watch repairs and diagnostics, but who have a willingness to learn, good dexterity and a passion for watches. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Richmond.
Responsibilities
Diagnostics
- Analysis of external impact to support warranty/invoice decision
- Define type of service
- Identify spare parts (service content and extras)
- Water resistance, mechanical and quartz testing
- Provide information relevant to repair process
- General condition report using standard text
- Movement condition; consumption and lower working limit, signs of moisture
- Quality control failures
Reception support
- Provide quote for required service to remain in house (Pre-approval)
- Provide quick services whilst customer waits
- Assist with and final control of customer pick-ups. (Winding and setting time, check date of quartz watches)
- Advise administration of any concerns with the customers’ time piece
Quick Services
- Refer to picture of condition at receipt
- Calibre, case and bracelet number check
- Visual quality – Watch on time, refurbished and cleaned
- Assembly quality (Bezel tightness, back closed and well orientated, bracelet pins, etc.)
- Operate moving components to check operation, security and friction/tightness of components
- Set to time – Check actual time variance against reference clock
- Check customers’ requests have been fulfilled
Skills and Experience
- Satisfactory results of a watchmaking apprenticeship course or minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience would be highly beneficial but is not mandatory
- Dexterity to safely open and close case backs
- High attention to detail
- Good communication skills within team environment
- Experience within a service industry preferable
- Computer skills
- Passion for watches
