Construction Business Controller

 

As an Construction Business Controller with Swatch Group, U.S., the position will be  responsible for auditing and controlling of all construction projects to ensure that they are in compliance with processes and that all capital expenditure budgets are aligned with actuals.  Construction Business Controller will work closely with all the Project Managers (PMs) and ensure that due diligence is carried out where needed.

This is an on-site position in Miami, Florida. 

Profile

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Review, and oversee a full audit of all capital expenditures on construction projects and monitor budgeted amounts in order to comply with HQ policies and budgets.
  • Ensure PM’s actual costs are in line with budget and all variances explained and inform PMs when the costs are close to budget that RfAF must be completed by PM would replace with: Ensure PM’s actual costs are in line with budget, all variances explained, and guide PMs through the corporate capital expenditure request steps.
  • Oversee Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and job-costing processes
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Complete the due diligence on all bids and all other contracts
  • Create and maintain a database of historical cost information of all construction projects.
  • Ensuring brand databases, files and budgeted items are properly notated and up to date.
  • Create and maintain a masterplan of all projects which can be tracked and updated weekly, with detailed information.
  • Work with the team to ensure that the Project Managers have applied for all permits where needed on a timely basis and chase where applicable.
  • Identify patterns of delay and communicate with the Director of Retail Development
  • Partner in the review of the project timelines, product specifications, and production schedules to ensure that established timelines are met.
  • Calculate various statistical information and variances related to the project
  • Ensure daily processes for all projects are maintained, and where necessary chase the Project Managers to ensure they adhere to the department processes.
  • Provide timely and accurate Reporting packages and monthly analyses related to the monthly close.
  • All other duties as assigned by Management

Professional requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required;
  • Minimum 3 -5 years of experience in a Accounting
  • Must be familiar with Construction Project Management required
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and budgeting
  • Must be proficiency with the financial system SAP
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles
  • Flexible to adjust to changes in responsibilities, procedures, or working conditions
  • Ability to interpret and analyze construction data, budgets, and financial reports.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must possess strong analytical skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong learning ability and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high level functions
  • Strong time management skills and ability to be both effective and efficient in work
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
