OMEGA to serve as Official Timekeeper

When boats fly in Barcelona, OMEGA’s experienced team will measure every manoeuvre with split-second accuracy.

The Swiss watchmaker is reprising its role as Official Timekeeper at this year’s edition of the great ocean duel: The Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup - 22nd August to 27th October 2024.

OMEGA’s association with the world-famous regatta began in 1995, when it supported Emirates Team New Zealand, led by the legendary sailor Sir Peter Blake. The kiwis’ victory that same year set the course for OMEGA to take the coveted role of Official Timekeeper in 2000, 2003 and 2021. This year, history is set to repeat.

The crews, Race Committee, and legions of fans can depend on OMEGA to deliver. In addition to timing previous America’s Cup regattas with flawless precision, OMEGA has served as Official Timekeeper at almost every Olympic Games since 1932.

A distinguished legacy reflected in the confident words of OMEGA’s President and CEO, Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann. “It’s a huge thrill to see the OMEGA name and logo on some of the sails of these cutting-edge boats. I’m proud to say, we’ve earned our place on the water, having served with distinction at three previous editions of the America’s Cup. We’re honoured to be tasked with measuring every microsecond of this historical boat race, and the exciting new races under the America’s Cup banner.”

The race for the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup is one of many compelling regattas taking place in Barcelona. In 2024, OMEGA’s timekeeping task-list has expanded to include two new top-level competitions. The Puig Women’s America’s Cup, which makes its debut in 2024, and the Unicredit Youth America’s Cup, an opportunity for emerging crews to prove their worth on the waves.

To celebrate its role as Official Timekeeper at the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona, OMEGA has produced an impressive collectible. The Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup 42 mm in stainless steel with 10-minute regatta scale, including a final 5-minutes section with stylised flagged START.
