Mido Baroncelli Gent Tonneau

The first Baroncelli Tonneau watch

Mido Baroncelli Gent Tonneau

Since 1918, the year of its foundation, Mido has always designed its finest creations in keeping with the spirit of the age. Featuring timeless elegance and sobriety, the timepieces created by this Swiss watchmaker embody the technical and aesthetic qualities sought after by persons who want to acquire a watch for lifelong wear. The Baroncelli collection in which the styling of the horns evokes the rounded scrolls of a violin has now been enhanced by a watch with a shape that is new to Mido, the Baroncelli Tonneau.

For over thirty years, Baroncelli models have embodied that classical spirit which pays tribute to the Mido motto, a mark of true design. The alliance of a timeless shape with understated lines and high quality features of the watchmaking art makes this collection one of the jewels in the crown of the Swiss brand based in Le Locle.

The elegance of Baroncelli has no time for passing fashion and draws its inspiration from the soft and sinuous curves of the flanks of a violin. The case, extended by horns, which assume rounded scroll forms, denotes elegance and harmony inherited from the finest creations of the master violin makers. Taking its example from those craftsmen in minute detail, Mido carefully selects the finest materials and components to design its watches.

As the latest model in the Baroncelli range, the Mido Tonneau reflects the true spirit of the collection with creativity and innovation. As the first Tonneau shape in the series, this watch will attract men who wish to combine functional quality and distinction with design and discretion. The clear and assertive lines of the steel case are enhanced by the black dial and brown leather strap.

The finely decorated automatic movement at the heart of this model can be admired through the transparent case back. A sapphire crystal with an antireflecting treatment on the both sides protects the dial enabling the time to be seen perfectly.

The Mido Baroncelli Tonneau is also available in rose PVD matching the anthracite dial and in another version with a steel bracelet and white dial.

Mido Belluna Gent

In 2008, Mido innovates with the creation of a new line, Belluna. This collection, an alliance of style and quality, embodies with true respect the spirit and culture of Swiss watchmaking, asserted as «a mark of true design». The Belluna draws its inspiration from the timeless forms of Art Deco architecture and displays the most topical technical features to attract today’s well-informed male clientele.

Mido Belluna Gent

As the latest of the Mido collections, Belluna faithfully reflects the philosophy which has established the reputation and success of the Swiss watchmaking house: design with clear and assertive lines allied to technical mastery and choice of the finest materials and components. This ambition is perfectly mastered in the different models and illustrated once again in this new line designed in Le Locle.

The Belluna pays creative tribute to one of New York’s landmark skyscrapers, the Chrysler Building. With its impressive metal-clad steel frame and streamlined silhouette, surmounted by a spire which is lost in the clouds, this building has been one of the most admired monuments in the world for nearly a century. Its perfectly successful architecture, a skilful blend of elegance and strength, has been the source of inspiration of this new Mido model.

The watch design recalls the remarkable features of this jewel in the crown of Art Deco architecture. The steel case embodies the understated geometrical forms which still attract keen admiration for this 1930s style. Its formal simplicity endows this timepiece with strong structural cohesion. The curves are harmonious and unusually soft, but the interest stems from the contrast created by the presence of the indexes with their straight lines and right angles. The half-moon shaped openings which reveal the date at 3 o’clock and the day at 9 o’clock are a reminder of the arches surmounting the Chrysler Building, just as the hands are reminiscent of the spire which rises majestically into the New York skyline.

The innovation and bold approach which permitted the construction of this prestigious monument are repeated in the technical elements which will surely attract male buyers who are sensitive to these progressive values. A sapphire crystal protects the dial and guarantees a scratch-proof surface, The transparent back is screw-fitted, as too is the crown. The Belluna model, water-resistant to 100 m, is fitted with a COSC certified self-winding chronometer movement which strengthens Mido’s position in this market segment and gives its proud owners the benefit of absolute precision at all times.

A genuine leather strap, fitted with a folding clasp with two push pieces, adds the final touch of classical elegance for a watch which will come as an agreeable surprise to lovers of timeless aesthetics.

Mido Belluna Lady

In a spirit of respect for the Mido philosophy and its maxim «a mark of true design», the Swiss watchmaker creates the new Belluna line. To attract all those women who love to combine style and quality, Belluna takes its inspiration from the charms of the Art Deco style allied to the technical features which today’s attentive clientele demands.

Mido Belluna Lady

Mido, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2008, aims to endow its collections with a timeless elegance inherited from the greatest human achievements. The timepieces made by the Swiss brand give their owners the benefit of inestimable loyalty, far removed from the vagaries of fashion and ephemeral trends.

Art Deco and the 1930s: an exhilarating period and an incredibly creative artistic movement which made its mark on the century and retains its great power of seduction even today. The dynamism and decorative richness of this epoch were the brilliant source of inspiration for the creation of Mido’s new Belluna line.

In those roaring years, women were liberated and laid claim to their independence, while displaying a style which left a lasting mark on society. The Belluna model is a true reflection of that state of mind: with its distinctive elegance and brilliance, it attracts the eye and fascinates all those women who are looking for a watch of exceptional quality in an eminently feminine setting.

The steel case, with a diameter of 33 mm, surrounds a delicate dial in azure mother of pearl which is reminiscent of the sun’s rays shining on the windows of the Chrysler Building, one of the foremost art deco symbols. A strap in genuine blued leather with a folding clasp turns this feminine line into a jewellery watch - perfect for wear at the smartest evening event.

Women who take a keen interest in the craft of watchmaking will discover with real pleasure the details which give this model its specific character. The indexes are enhanced by twelve diamonds (representing a total of 0.030 carats) sparkling behind a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. On the dial two half-moon shaped windows reveal the date at 3 o’clock and the day at 9 o’clock. A transparent screwed case back allows the decorated self-winding movement and the engraved Mido logo to be admired. A screwdown crown with guaranteed water-resistance up to 100 m round off the outstanding character of this Belluna model.

Mido Commander Gold Limited Edition

50 years of a timeless classic

Mido Commander Gold Limited Edition

In 1959, Mido first designed what was destined to become one of the most appreciated of all classical watches, the Commander. In 2009, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the collection, this creation is still sought after as a safe value of Swiss luxury watchmaking. In tribute to this model, which remains true to its elegant and original allure, Mido presents a gold edition in a limited series of 50 pieces.

The Commander collection, first created in 1959, is a perfect embodiment of the spirit imparted by Mido to its most famous creations which unite the attributes of reliability and functionality with timeless styling immune to the ravages of time. Nearly 50 years after its initial successes, the Commander remains one of the best-known watches made by the company based in Le Locle.

The design of the Commander has remained unchanged since the nineteen-fifties. It is a perfect embodiment of the unfettered elegance and incredible modernity of that period. The Commander has a special allure which is immediately recognizable by the purity of its lines and the big dial opening.

The Gold Edition is a limited series launched to celebrate the jubilee, and the dial of each piece will be numbered from 1 / 50 to 50 / 50. Supplied in a special watch box, fitted with a brown leather strap and a silver dial brushed from the centre in a sunray pattern which enhances the warm color of the gold, the Commander Limited Edition also has all of those features which have delighted connoisseurs for half a century. Its monobloc case is made of a single piece and has no removable case back. Its crown is protected by the cork crown sealing of the unique Aquadura system, and its domed glass is made of hesalite. The Gold Edition incorporates an automatic COSC certified chronometer movement for absolute precision at all times.

The jubilee Commander will also be offered in a steel version with a steel Milanese bracelet, limited to 500 pieces.

Mido Commander Lady Diamonds

This model has not aged in 50 years. Its distinctive silhouette makes it a classic of Swiss watchmaking. Mido’s Commander is now available for ladies in a version which sparkles with a thousand fires, for women who want elegance and luxury to go hand in hand with refinement and lightness.

Mido Commander Lady Diamonds

To celebrate 50 years of its legendary Commander model, Mido decided to make a version for women. This is based on the traditional 37 mm round case of the classical Commander, a dimension which nowadays makes a perfect fit for the wrists of women who like to wear large watches.

The distinctive features of this new Command Lady are the dial in natural mother-of-pearl, whose iridescence is marvelously enhanced by the sparkle of twelve Top Wesselton diamonds placed at the indexes. With its pointed hands, this timepiece makes a deliciously retro impression. The watch also displays the day and date aperture in the first quarter. It features a high quality automatic movement, the oscillating weight receives Côtes de Genève decorations and the engraved Mido logo.

The silhouette of the Commander Lady Diamonds is perfectly pure. The circular pattern of the case has remained unchanged since the fifties, allying grace, perfection and modernity. The line is not interrupted by the crown which has been specially integrated. The chamfered and beveled horns are very small in discreet contrast with the round case and permit perfect integration of the strap. This is available in white or black leather, closed by an elegant steel buckle.

The Commander Lady is of course equipped with the Aquadura water-resistant system, for which Mido has been famous since its invention in the nineteen-thirties. This system makes use of a natural cork gasket to ensure a perfect seal for the winding stem, even if the stem is left in the pulled-out position. The cork used in the Aquadura gasket is treated with a special lubricant whose precise composition is a closely guarded secret. The water-resistance of Commander Lady Diamonds is enhanced by a robust monobloc steel case without a removable back and by the domed hesalite crystal.

This Commander Lady Diamonds is a remarkable object for women who have set their sights on luxury and discreet elegance.
